What is the Regeneris Hand & Elbow?

The Regeneris Hand & Elbow is the result of a procedure that uses injections of the patient’s own cells to repair damage to the hand or elbow. This approach builds on the developing field of cellular therapies that have proven valuable for a variety of medical purposes today. Our stromal vascular stem cell and platelet rich plasma treatments help alleviate pain with an injection, rather than a costly surgery that requires weeks of recovery time. The Regeneris Hand & Elbow is a minimally-invasive procedure that can be performed on an outpatient basis using local anesthesia.

Don’t Operate – Regenerate!

Are experiencing elbow pain from arthritis, tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow or ulnar nerve? Have you been searching for treatment options for hand injuries, hand arthritis, basal joint arthritis, instability, triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFCC) tear, or carpal tunnel syndrome? The Regeneris Hand & Elbow offers an alternative solution to hand or elbow surgery.

Benefits of the Regeneris Hand & Elbow over Hand & Elbow Surgery

There are numerous reasons why The Regeneris Hand & Elbow might be a better choice than surgery:

Anesthesia Risks

Hand or elbow surgery is typically performed under general anesthesia, which can increase a patient’s risk of complications during and after surgery. General anesthesia is also more likely to cause side effects like nausea and vomiting and extends the recovery process. The Regeneris Hand & Elbow is performed using local anesthesia, reducing many of those risks.

Time in Hospital

The Regeneris Hand & Elbow procedure is usually performed on an outpatient basis, which means you return home a few hours after your treatment to recover in the comfort of your home. A hand or elbow operation requires a hospital stay of 1-2 days, physical therapy, and you will most likely be required to wear a sling for about 2 weeks.

Recovery Time

Recovery from a hand or elbow surgery is extensive and often painful. Depending on the surgery, recovery time could range from 3-4 weeks and  6-8 weeks. Regeneris Hand & Elbow patients are instructed to refrain from rigorous physical activity for about two weeks, although gradual stretches and exercises are encouraged almost right away in order to keep the joint mobile after treatment.

Patients can sometimes feel immediate pain relief, but typically it takes 2 weeks to 3 months for complete alleviation of pain. Effectiveness of The Regeneris Hand & Elbow differs for each patient and therefore the amount of time before a patient needs another injection varies. However, there is little to no recovery time and within a few weeks (or sometimes only a few days) patients begin to see the expected healing results.

State-of-the-Art Technology

The Regeneris Hand & Elbow procedure involves two distinct, state-of-the-art technologies:

Stromal Vascular Fraction (SVF)

This technology is used to extract stem cells from autologous fat tissue, rather than blood or bone marrow. Removing stem cells through this method results in a much higher yield of the cells, which produces the best possible outcome from your procedure. The autologous fat is removed from the body via a minimally-invasive liposuction procedure under local anesthesia. The stem cells are then taken from the tissue and injected into the knee joint.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)

This substance in your blood contains a high concentration of growth factors that stimulate the body’s healing response. When administered to an injured area, the platelets create an environment that heals tendons, muscles, ligaments and joints. PRP has been used as a dental and cosmetic therapy since the 1990s and more recently, has shown significant benefit in the medical realm.

About the Procedure

The Regeneris Hand & Elbow procedure is performed in our office on an outpatient basis, starting with the extraction of fat to collect the necessary stem cells. Blood is also drawn to process the PRP that will be administered along with the stem cells. Under local anesthesia, the stem cells and platelet rich plasma are injected directly into the injured joint. In most cases, patients will only require one treatment session to achieve their full results.

You should be able to return to all of your regular activities within 1-2 days of the Regeneris Hand & Elbow procedure. Positive results develop over time as the natural healing process takes place. Your relief should last about 7-10 years at which point, you may need another Regeneris Hand & Elbow procedure to maintain your improved comfort and range of motion in the joint.

The Regeneris Hand & Elbow is considered a new field of medicine, but experts of the technology estimate this procedure could eliminate the need for hand or elbow surgery at some point in the future. Regeneris Medical® is currently looking for patients to participate in this new field and see for themselves the potential benefits of this non-invasive approach to treating joint degeneration. Commonly Affected Areas

Our regenerative orthopedic patients are seeking stem cell therapy in the following areas:

The face is the only part of our body we cannot hide. It conveys our emotions and innermost feelings. Usually the face is first area in which people notice signs of aging. The Regeneris Cellu-Lift and the Regeneris Face Lift work to naturally rejuvenate the entire face, as opposed to more traditional solutions that target treatments of individual areas.

For women who are thinking about a neck lift but don’t want surgery, we offer the Regeneris Neck Lift as well as PRP and SVF injections with fat grafts along the jaw bone to lift and sculpt. Results typically last around 18 months to several years, all without ever going under the knife.

Shoulder pain can cause reduced range of motion and prevent patients from engaging fully in daily life, and can be caused by trauma or injury, arthritis, and other degenerative and age-related conditions. Those who suffer from shoulder pain can avoid costly and painful surgeries with cellular therapies.

Hand & Elbow

Pain in the hand and elbow can be debilitating, and can prevent patients from participating in activities of daily living. Potential has been discovered in application of cellular therapies for pain in the hand and elbow caused by arthritis, tendonitis, or other conditions.

Foot & Ankle

Injury, arthritis, and other degenerative conditions can cause this kind of pain, and can prevent patients from walking or moving comfortably. Fortunately, treatments for joint pain of the foot and ankle can benefit from the potential of cellular therapies.

Neck, Back & Spine

Neck and back pain can have many causes, two of the most common being degenerative disk disease and facet arthropathy. Pain can also be caused by arthritis of the facet joints, the small joints where vertebra connect to their adjacent neighboring vertebrae.
